Received a call from this number. It only rang twice. I wouldn't answer anyway because I've heard about scams that beguin by answering unsolicited calls.

Have received two of these calls in recent weeks, both from different (01) 699 numbers. On not recognising either I let let them ring out but when I foolishly called back I was sent ataright through to a voice mail saying something along the lines of how my call was important to them and to stay on the line. Both numbers now blocked but mystified as to how they've selected my number to call on two occasions. I got these calls just days after I had switched phone providers (to Eir) so am of the opinion that there is some connection

Check you phone invoice. It's probably a scam with toll charges. Nothing to do with your provider. They call to different countries. I blocked the first number then a day later recanted two more from same number with last digit different.
